Appreciating the Pale Ale
Wed Jun 4 2008
Hydrate Bar at Crowne Plaza Royal Pines Golf Resort & Spa will play host to beer expert Tony Jones later this month, at the Hydrate Bar Beer Degustation Dinner.
An event not only for beer lovers, but those who are interested in finding the beer that's perfect for their palate, the evening is aimed at dispelling a number of age old myths about beer such as dark beer is stronger than light beer, ale is stronger than lager, the best beer comes in green bottles, and beer makes you fat.
Crowne Plaza Royal Pines Golf Resort & Spa's Executive Chef William Baulch has been working with the Malt Shovel Brewery team to create a special menu for the evening. Each of the five courses on the degustation menu have been designed to match a range of beers from the brewery's James Squire range including the Golden Ale, Pilsner, Amber Ale, India Pale Ale and James Squire Porter.
The event will also showcase the Mad Brewers Raspberry Wheat beer selected to complement Chef's chocolate trio cake with red berry compote and raspberry coulis. A perfect drop for the ladies, or those with a sweet tooth this beer instantly dismisses any myth that all beer is bitter.
The Hydrate Bar Beer Degustation Dinner will be held from 6:30pm on Friday 20 June 08. Bookings are essential and can be made by phoning (07) 5597 1111.
Those wishing to turn the evening into a weekend affair can make use of the Resort's special Bed & Breakfast accommodation offer. Valid from 8 – 30 June, you can enjoy overnight accommodation in a new look room for only $89* per person, per night, twin share, including breakfast. Simply book a ticket to the beer dinner and also receive a complimentary upgrade to the next available room type.
