Making a Dream Come True for Bushfire Children
Wed Apr 29 2009
RACV Royal Pines Resort will host a special dinner on Tuesday 12 May for a group of 41 children and 16 adults that were severely impacted by Victoria's recent bushfire disaster.
The group will enjoy a sumptuous seafood buffet feast at the Resort's award winning Kalinda Restaurant hosted by Resort General Manager Greg Magi, and Resort Executives Colette Tobin, Eddie Ross and Gavin Kirkman.
The evening is part of the four-day "Dream Trip" program of activities put together by Main Beach Travel in association with Gold Coast Tourism. The group will be visiting the Gold Coast from 10-14 May.
RACV Royal Pines Resort General Manager, Greg Magi, says he looks forward to welcoming the group to Royal Pines.
"Our main objective is to make sure these kids have a terrific time. They all deserve a break after what they have been through," he said.
Main Beach Travel consultant Jenny Thomas says she is impressed with the level of support Gold Coast Tourism operators have offered to this initiative.
"With the thanks of Gold Coast Tourism and many of our local tourism operators these school aged children, who have been through such a horrendous time in their lives, will be given a really special and fun filled visit to the Gold Coast. We can only hope it will help to ease their trauma."
In the aftermath of the Victorian bushfires, RACV provided direct, on-the-ground support for all RACV members who were affected. RACV contributed $500,000 to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund to help support all affected Victorians, while staff provided volunteer labour and support as well as organising various fundraising activities, including more than $12,000 raised through initiatives such as the Royal Pines good will cupcake drive.
RACV Royal Pines is well known for its work within the community, hosting an annual family fun day, a number of charity events and golf days throughout the year and raising funds through its Community One program, including projects nominated by staff.
